How can we help?

Ice Production Overview

Performance Expectations

  • 28 cubes per cycle
  • ~420 cubes per full bin
  • Average usage: 2–5 gallons/day

Environmental Impact on Production

  • Higher ambient temps → slower cooling
  • Lower temps → system shutdown protection

Ice Bin Behavior

  • Ice collects more in front first
  • Manual redistribution helps maximize capacity

Ice Type Selection – Solid vs. Hollow vs. Semi Solid

Why change the ice type?

The Presrv™ gourmet clear ice machine offers three distinct ice thicknesses: solid, semi-solid,
and hollow. Changing the ice thickness is primarily to balance the production speed, melt rate,
and beverage types. Solid ice is better for long-lasting cooling, while hollow ice is ideal for faster
production and rapid chilling of beverages. Semi-solid ice offers a compromise between the solid and
hollow thicknesses.

NOTE: If ice is infrequently used, setting the ice machine to produce solid ice ensures the bin remains
filled with dense, long-lasting ice that does not melt as quickly. This means the ice machine will
not run as frequently.

Solid Ice

Solid gourmet ice is fully frozen throughout with no internal voids
or air pockets. Ideal for spirits such as whiskey, bourbon, scotch, or
craft cocktails. Ideal for applications where the beverage quality and
presentation are high priority.
Benefits: Slow melting rate, minimal beverage dilution, maintains drink
temperature for extended periods

Semi Solid Ice

Semi-solid gourmet ice is a hybrid form, featuring a partial pocket with
limited void space. It provides a balance in performance between solid
ice and hollow ice. Ideal for environments serving a variety of drink
types.
Benefits: Moderate melting rate, balanced cooling and dilution

Hollow Ice

Hollow gourmet ice contains an internal cavity which results in a lighter
and less dense cube that freezes more quickly. Ideal for soft drinks,
carbonated beverages, or blended drinks. Recommended for situations
where drinks are quickly consumed or frequently replenished.
Benefits: Faster ice production, quick chilling for beverages

How to Switch Ice Shapes

  • To switch between different ice thicknesses, press and hold the Set icon for 3 seconds. A 3 second countdown will appear before changing screens. Slide up or down through the menu to select between Solid, Semi-Solid, and Hollow ice thicknesses and press the Set icon to confirm settings.
  • Tap the Back icon to return to the previous menu. If there is no operation for 8 seconds, the screen will automatically return to the previous interface If there is no operation for an additional 5 seconds, the screen returns to the default interface.

Usage Recommendations

  • High-demand situations (e.g., parties):
    • Set the machine to Semi Solid or Hollow
    • Enables faster ice production to keep up with demand
  • Low ice usage:
    • Set the machine to Solid
    • Helps keep the bin filled with dense, slow-melting ice
    • Reduces how often the machine needs to run

Ice Quality and Storage

Ice quality depends on water conditions and proper maintenance of the ice machine.

The ice storage bin is not refrigerated. Ice will slowly melt, and ice cubes will naturally deteriorate
by changing in appearance and texture over time. This is normal operation. As ice ages, cubes may
become cloudy, rough, or stick together. Use ice regularly and avoid prolonged storage for best
results.

Water quality can also affect ice appearance and consistency. Water treated by a water softener
may produce softer, cloudy, or clumping ice.

NOTE: Cracks in newly formed ice may occur and are a normal part of the ice‑making process.
